Annual Fleet Forum Conference
From Donor to Delivery
Over the last 10 years, Fleet Forum member organisations have grown and changed to accommodate the evolving landscape of humanitarian work. These same organisations are constantly seeking ways to better manage their vehicle fleets under the pressure of ever-changing operations. In these changing times of programme delivery, the effectiveness of supply chains are impacted by a variety of stakeholders, particularly when it comes to transport. From donors, to agencies themselves, through commercial suppliers, and other partner entities, each plays a vital role in transport operations and how they are affecting humanitarian goals. To address the needs of the 40+ Fleet Forum member organisations including NGOs, UN agencies, INGOs, and the Red Cross movement, the 2010 Fleet Forum Annual Conference will bring together key experts to help answer some of the questions as to how the varying stakeholders in humanitarian programme delivery can play a successful role and facilitate activities that lead us closer to achieving the Millennium Development Goals. The event will be comprised of a two day conference that will address practical issues facing humanitarian transport today and into the future. We'll look at issues including the new ISO 39001 Road Safety Standards and what they mean for fleet operators in the aid and development sector. Recognising that partnerships across sectors are generating successful new initiatives, we'll address how HumaNav has used a multi-partner approach to provide an operational service for real-time vehicle tracking, navigation and data exchange for humanitarian fleets. To stimulate collaborative solutions, the conference will also include a guided workshop that asks different sectors how they can improve their impact on humanitarian goals through transport. The event will also be the formal launch of the Fleet Forum's expanded focus that now addresses transport as a larger enabler of humanitarian goals in low and middle income countries.
