“Building Fleet Management Capacity in Aid/Development Organisations” Thematic Workshops

USAID logo

Under the ‘Building Fleet Management Capacity in Aid/Development Organisations’ Programme, Fleet Forum will organise 3 thematic workshops that address fleet management challenges in the sector. The workshops are aimed to identify solutions for challenges and will be the starting point for further development of tools that will benefit fleet operating organisations.

The workshops are aimed at senior managers of UN agencies and INGO’s who have a responsibility for fleets and who wish to collaborate with their peers to come up with solutions that benefit the sector.

There are no costs involved in participating in the workshops. Costs for travel and stay need to be borne by the participant.

If you are interested in participating in any of the workshops, please send an email to Rose van Steijn at Rose.van.Steijn@fleetforum.org, indicating the workshop of your interest.

Disposal workshop (1,5 day workshop), hosted by UNHCR

Workshop date: 16 – 17 September 2014

Location: Budapest, Hungary

Disposal of vehicles is a challenge for many organisations. Issues such as disposal criteria from donors, lack of knowledge in country offices when and how to dispose and the lack of a central market place to sell off the vehicles can lead to organisations lacking a structural disposal strategy resulting in organisations operating aged vehicles that have a negative impact on costs, safety and environmental impact. At the same time, organisations are looking into more structured approaches to ensure that vehicles are disposed in a sustainable way.  This workshop builds on work that Fleet Forum members started in 2012 and the experience that some of the larger organisations have gained during the last 1,5 year. The objective of the workshop is to share experiences with disposal, create a guide with guidelines for disposal and to investigate opportunities for a broader application of best practices.

Risk Analysis Workshop (1,5 day workshop), hosted by FIA Foundation

Location: London, United Kingdom

Operating vehicles imposes risks to organisations, whether it is from a safety, financial or a business continuity perspective. For organisations operating their fleet in challenging environments it is of utmost importance to identify these risks and to identify initiatives that mitigate them. This workshop builds on FleetRisk360°, a comprehensive review of fleet risks arising in the humanitarian context. The objective of this workshop is to identify risks that derive from fleet operations and identify risk-mitigating interventions. Ultimately, Fleet Forum wishes to develop a Risk Analysis Guide that supports organisations in minimizing risks from fleet operations.
