Certification for safe drivers in Aid & Development sector

Drivers in the Aid & Development sector face challenging environments and situations every day. Only drivers with the right skills, knowledge and attitude will show behaviour that will ensure safe driving. Therefore these competent drivers are crucial for organisations.

Driving forward a safer way, TGS, Bioforce and Fleet Forum instigated an initiative to develop a “safe driver competencies framework”. This initiative will deliver a job description, a framework describing the driver’s skills, driver’s responsibilities and behaviour, the criteria for certifying drivers, and the requirements for a driver training programme.  The initiative will lead to a competency framework that will be accepted by the humanitarian community resulting a recognised benchmark certificate of competency.

This initiative can only be successful if we work together with our members, the final users of the competency framework. Therefore we sent out a survey to receive our members’ contribution to develop the driver competency framework.
