Fleet Management Standards for Aid / Development Organisations
Aid and development agencies face an ever-increasing demand for the delivery of relief and development programmes around the world. Operating in rapidly changing environments and under very variable circumstances, with restraints on resources as they try to serve the most needy, agencies are faced with the challenge of delivering more with less. Underpinning this scenario is an essential need to improve the transport capacity that will allow agencies to achieve their mandate to help the most vulnerable segments of society. As agencies seek to better manage and utilise their essential transport capacity, a major requirement is the need to gain insight in their fleet operations performance focussing on road safety, environmental impact and cost efficiency.
The Fleet Management Standards project is a voluntary scheme for fleet operating aid and development organisations. Its purpose is to raise the level of performance within fleet operations, and to demonstrate which organisations are achieving the standards. The Fleet Management Standards and Self Assessment describes the requirements for the standards at Basic, Advanced and Professional level.
The Fleet Management Standard KPI’s support organisations to gain more insight in their current fleet performance and aims to continuously improve. At the same time this KPI framework can be used by organisations to benchmark themselves in- and externally.
After completing the self-assessment, the Gap Prioritization Matrix can be used to assist in planning.
Fleet Forum encourages aid and development organisations to take a closer look at themselves and identify areas of strength to be exploited and areas for improvement to be addressed.
