Over the last year, the Fleet Forum Board and Secretariat have engaged in extensive strategy sessions to work towards the next evolution of the Fleet Forum in response to the feedback received over the last six years of operations. Consulting with strategic development specialists, the team have built an expanded focus for the Fleet Forum driven by a revised vision. This expanded direction recognises the broader impact of transport on development issues, and focuses on transport as an enabler of internationally recognised development goals.
In brief, in 2010 and beyond, the Fleet Forum will aim to improve lives, by raising the profile of transport’s impact on development, and catalysing safe, green and effective vehicle fleets. Our mission, is to elevate the role of transport in low and middle income countries towards the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals.
The complete updated strategic direction for the Fleet Forum will be presented at the next annual conference in March 2010.
At this time, the Fleet Forum Board and Secretariat would like to thank Martin Bettelley for his contribution to developing this new strategic focus. Martin, who was loaned to the Fleet Forum to help bridge activities during this strategy development period, contributed his technical fleet expertise to the discussions. With the assignment complete, Martin has now rejoined WFP’s logistics operations and Fleet Forum activities going forward will be managed by the Secretariat under the guidance of the Board.
