2020 Driver Recognition Programme

About the Programme

The Driver Recognition Programme (DRP) is an annual competition for drivers of humanitarian organisations. It recognises the important role drivers play in the sustainability and health and safety objectives of aid and development organisations. It also acknowledges the corresponding organisation who understands the critical role the drivers play in in the organisation, and take the time to show appreciation of their drivers. The focus of the competition is on safe driving and teamwork.

Drivers are the most prominent public ‘face’ of the organisation. The Driver Recognition Programme is designed to engage, educate, inspire and recognise the best drivers for their contribution. We celebrate them in supporting a workforce of drivers who stay focused and safe and remain accident-free at all times, in order to save lives and eliminate crash-related costs.

We would like to extend our gratitude to UPS, for granting us the resources to develop the programme.

The 2020 Driver Recognition Programme

Despite this years’ Covid-19 challenges, many of our Fleet Managers kept their focus and continued to celebrate and recognise their drivers in the 2020 edition of our Driver Recognition Programme.

The journey started at the beginning of this year, with:

- 33 country programmes

- signing up a total of 566 drivers

- from 11 global organisations

- out of 14 countries in East and Southern Africa.

In order to celebrate the drivers who have finalized round 2 and who are now moving into the finals, as well as thanking all participating drivers this year and all the country winners, we gladly introduce the best driver for each country team!
