New Fleet Manager of the Year 2023

George Rugeyyi Igga from Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Switzerland is voted as the winner of the Fleet Manager of the Year Award 2023.

During our virtual Award Ceremony on February 21, Fleet Forum celebrated The Fleet Manager of the Year 2023. The ceremony was attended by approximately 100 fleet managers, country directors, drivers, supporters and colleagues who could join in and follow the ceremony in a language of their choice.

George won the award after the top 2 candidates presented themselves to the audience, who could then cast their vote during a live voting.

Before the audience vote, an expert jury consisting of Maria Besiou, Dean of Research and Professor of Humanitarian Logistics, Kühne Logistics University – KLU, Miranda Shami, Fleet Manager WHO Jordan and Fleet Manager of the Year 2022, John Saisi, Global Senior Fleet Manager at Save the Children, and former winner of the Best Transport Achievement Award had reviewed and scored the applications. They praised the applicants, saying that both finalists showed leadership, leading their teams in reducing costs or emissions of their respective fleets.

2023 winner George took on the challenge to clean the fleet while he was fleet manager for MSF in DRC. He has taken it on himself not only to improve maintenance management in its broadest sense, but he also actively collaborated with others to dispose of fleet waste in the most sustainable way.

In his speech George acknowledged the important role of fleet managers and he dedicated the award to all people working in the humanitarian sector in general and specifically in DRC.

Luljeta Delijaj from UNHCR is the runner up of 2023. Her nomination was based on her strategic initiatives in road safety, sustainability and cost reductions. Now managing Ukraine fleet operations, Luljeta has been the driving force in Uganda and Lebanon and set the example of what good fleet management looks like by implementing practical solutions coupled with leadership in terms of communications, people management and delivering results. In Uganda she managed to increase the utilization of the fleet at lower costs.

Please join us in congratulating George Rugeyyi Igga as the Winner of the 2023 Fleet Manager of the Year!
